I have just arrived from a trip to Subic. It was really a great experience. Aside from the fact that I have been able to bond with some old friends whom I haven’t been able to see for quite a while, the trip turned out to be some kind of adventure.

It was an unplanned trip – unplanned in a sense that we did not book ahead nor do we know the where we really are going. All we know is we want to get together and go to the beach and Subic is by far, the nearest place where there are beaches. So, last Saturday morning, my sister and I headed for San Fernando Pampanga where our friends are staying, then from San Fernando, we headed for Subic.

We all decided that it will just be one great roadtrip. We have internet in the car since one of my friends need to work somehow and needs to be online in his laptop. So we searched the internet for possible places but inspite our Google search skills, we were not able to find a place.

When we reached SBMA, we just drove around, trying to find a place to go. Being lost and afraid that the strict Subic Police will find us violating some traffic regulation, we became a bit paranoid. We drove within speed limit, made sure that we stop at the intersections, double checked the traffic lights, etc. I called a friend who is based in Subic to ask her where we can go, and she suggested Camayan Resort. So we drove to Camayan, good thing there are signs all around telling us where to go. Yet, there came another blunder, Camayan is full and we also did not notice that we are almost out of gas. We drove back to the city, trying to find a gas station, anticipating that anytime, the car will just stop because we don’t have gas anymore. Good thing is, we were able to find a gas station before the tank dries up. Whew.

Perhaps, the stress of getting lost and anticipating that we will have to push the car in a zigzag road made us hungry that we had to stop at the nearest fastfood – Chowking. I had halo halo, the leche flan is really great that I am still craving for it now - bitin e. We called White Rock and it is also full. From there, I decided to call my uncle and ask where we can find a nice resort that is not fully booked. He picked us up at Chowking and led us to Brgy. Barretto in Olongapo City. We were able to find a room, not what we initially planned – this accommodation is a slum compared to Camayan and White Rock. But then again, who cares, all we really want to do is go to the beach, regardless. Init kasi e.

After resting for a few minutes, we decided to go on a boat ride and go island hopping. The boat took us to the White Castle and showed us the different other resorts around the area. It is such a pity that none of us know how scuba dive. The boat captain said we can go scuba diving in one of the areas and they will lend us their equipment. Anyway, we still had a great time looking at the nicer resorts and watching the sunset from the boat.

When we got back, we bought some squid from the fishermen. Grilled squid for dinner. After dinner, that is the only time we were able to take a dip.

Then, the next day, the highlight of the entire trip. We went jet skiing. Well, I don’t even know how to ride a bike and I don’t know how to swim, so I was a bit scared at first. The initial plan is for Dulce to ride with Joedel, then Grace and I will ride with Vince. But Vince suggested that we also try driving. I was a bit hesitant, but I decided to go for it. The instructor will be there anyway and I’m wearing a life vest. I will not die, hehe. At first, all I really want to do is to just try it then go back. But the instructor insisted that I ski off until he is satisfied with my skills. So, I went on and really enjoyed it. Grace and Dulce also took the lesson so the boys decided that the girls just ride together. I guess I really enjoyed jet skiing so I was the assigned driver. We really had a great time that we almost did not allow Joe and Vince to take their turns. We went ashore when there’s only 10 minutes left for the jetski rental. Sorry Joe and Vince. hehe

After that, the sun is already up so we decided not to swim anymore and just go home. It was brief yet definitely memorable. I really had a good time, thanks Joedel and Vince.
